Oak tree

Arval Hungary Ltd. decided to plant in October 2008 on ca. 5 hectares about 50.000 stalkless oak trees near Nógrádsáp, a small village 80 km from Budapest.
The stalkless oak is naturalized in Hungary, but it’s territorial ratio is low. This was the reason of our decision to choose this kind of tree which is preferential to nature.
The stalkless oak is planted by acorn seeding on the way, as written in the followings:
The agricultural territory is disencumbered from the harmful cocklebur, than the soil is prepared by reeding and ploughing. After this rows are pulled with the distance of 2,4 metres between them by tractors. In them stalkless oak acorn is placed by every 30-40 cms. With this method every plant has 1 sqm to live on. The whole territory of the plants is paddocked to save it from the games. For pest control the rapid growing scrogs are carefully extirpated.
In a few years time the small plants grow so much that 1 sqm won’t be enough for them, therefore the substance must be rarefied. This means that the weaker and deseased trees are eliminated to give space for the stronger and healthier ones.
Although after 80-100 years only our grandchildren will enjoy the shade of the old stalkless oak trees planted by ARVAL Hungary Ltd., our firm has intended to set an example and contribure to create a nicer and greener environment.
